MATERIALS
NEEDED: Seashell Topiary
STYROFOAM*
Brand Products:
1- 12" x 5" cone
1- 6" x 1-1/4" disc
Other Materials:
4- cups of various size shells
1- starfish for top
2- cups fine beach sand
1- 5" terra cotta pot
1- 24" strip of raffia
Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
| INSTRUCTIONS: Seashell Topiary |
| 1.
Push a pencil into bottom of cone for easier handling. Work
on small areas of cone at a time and begin at the bottom with
larger shells. Spread thin layer of glue over small area; sprinkle
with sand. Tap cone over trash can to remove excess sand. |
| 2.
Put additional drop of glue over area where each shell will
be placed. Firmly push shells directly into cone to a depth
of 1/4". Continue covering with sand and shells over entire
cone. |
| 3.
Glue wire or toothpick into bottom of starfish; push wire or
toothpick into top of cone. |
| 4.
When glue has dried thoroughly, spray with 1 to 2 coats of acrylic
varnish. |
| 5.
Trim disc to fit snuggly in top of pot. Spread 1" band of glue
around top outside edge of disc and sprinkle with sand. Center
cone on disc and glue to secure. Tie strip of raffia around
pot. |

STYROFOAM*

1- 3-1/2" ball
Other Materials:
2- cups small shells
Fine beach sand
2- yds. strip of raffia

Tools and Supplies:
Thick craft glue or Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
Wooden skewer
Acrylic varnish
Tall glass
| INSTRUCTIONS: Seashell Ornament |
| 1.
Push a wooden skewer into ball for easier handling. |
| 2.
Follow steps 1, 2 and 4 of the topiary project to cover ball.
Place skewer in a tall glass to let ball dry thoroughly. |
| 3.
Tie strip of raffia around ball. |

STYROFOAM*
Brand Products:
1- 1" x 12" x 18" sheet
Other Materials:
Fine beach sand
2- cups shells
1- 7" square of white felt
Mod Podge Matt Medium
General
Tools and Supplies:
Thick craft glue or Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
Serrated knife
Pencil
Small paint brush
| INSTRUCTIONS: Seashell Frame |
| 1.
Cut sheet of foam to measure 7" x 9". Measure and mark 1 1/2"
border around each side. Cut out resulting rectangle from center
of sheet. |
| 2.
Cut second piece of foam measuring 1" x 1 1/2" x 4 3/4"; trim
bottom of piece so it sits back at an angle. This piece will
be glued to bottom of back of frame for support. |
| 3.
Brush craft glue over front and inner and outer sides of frame.
Sprinkle with sand. |
| 4.
While glue is wet, push shells directly into surface of STYROFOAM;
let dry thoroughly. Brush on Mod Podge Matt Medium to finish. |
| 5.
Glue piece of felt measuring 5" x 7" over hole on back of frame,
leaving one end open to insert photograph. Select open end based
on if frame will be used horizontally or vertically. |
| 6.
Glue supporting piece to back of frame. |
